I currently have an ADS-B exchange antenna setup using a raspberry pi - Feed=NqKX6UwJ-H3s
I have the opportunity to connect a device to an antenna on a local ham radio repeater tower
Cone antenna is about 80 foot high with coax hard line to the equipment building
Location (Ephrata, PA): 40.17495° N, -76.15746° W
Internet: A group has a relay network between several sites on 1296 MHZ including ours; we have a network switch to connect to in our building
What device/hardware would I need to take advantage of this site? I would appreciate your advice/direction on this.
Thanks!!

I have more questions then answers for you at this point:
Is the antenna tuned for ADSB, with coax that long on an antenna not tuned in the GHz range you may not get much at all and a tuned antenna on the roof may be better.

Also the latency of the relay network could cause some issues calculating MLAT so I would see how bad it is.

I know on quick glance a super high antenna on a tower sounds ideal but if not set up right it may not be very good at all.

Thanks, Brian.

I will bounce this info off the ham guys who setup and maintain the tower.

I do have a Comet GP-3 antenna that I intend to put up on my chimney someday - but may not have the time to do so in the near future.

A GP3 antenna would not be a good one for ADSB as it is centered on the VHF and UHF ham bands, it would be like trying to use a HF antenna for VHF. I would suggest a specific ADSB antenna.

> Unlike most other ADS-B receive antennas, this 5.5dbi antenna not only receives the 1090Mhz band, but also the 978Mhz band.

My bad. I have several antennas intended for my chimney/roof.

I do have the correct one for ADS-B.
